Understanding the Impact of Hybrid Immunity on SARS-CoV-2 T Cell Memory

Alex Nicols obtained a BSc in Medical Microbiology and an MSc in Molecular Medicine from the University of Sheffield Medical School where he studied the virulence factors of Burkholderia pseudomallei. He obtained a PhD in Translational Immunology from the Newcastle University Translational and Clinical Research Institute where he worked closely with the Great North Childrens Hospital investigating the interactions between the gut microbiome and peripheral immunity in reconstituting BMT patients. He also worked as part of the PITCH consortium using high-dimensional cytometry to study T cell memory responses to SARS-CoV-2 vaccination and infection. Alex is now a Postdoctoral scholar in the Pediatric Immunization Advancement lab at the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on using high-dimensional spectral cytometry alongside metagenomics and metabolomics to better understand responses to vaccines in early life.
