Title:
T-cell responses to EV-A71 structural proteins in hand foot mouth disease patients

Abstract:
Enterovirus 71 (EV-A71) is the main cause severe hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in the Asia-Pacific region. Although T cell–mediated immune responses potentially play a critical role in controlling severe disease, current knowledge regarding T cell immunity in patients with hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) caused by EV-A71 remains unknown. These findings highlight for the first time the immunological significance of structural protein in particular VP2 in inducing the T cell response to EV-A71 infection, and underscore the need for further investigation into the immune response profiles underlying disease progression and correlate of protection in HFMD, which would inform the development of vaccines and therapeutic approaches.

Biography:
Nguyet has worked as a Research assistant for OUCRU since 2002. She graduated Master degree of Medical laboratory science of Medicine and Pharmacy University, Ho Chi Minh City in 2019.

She has some experiences in viral culture, so she takes part in isolation a variety types of clinical specimens from Dengue, Hand Foot and Mouth Disease, H1N1 and H5N1. She has contributed to many different projects related to COVID-19 research including diagnostics SARS-nCoV-2 and assessment the levels of immune response of COVID-19 patients. She currently is a second-year PhD student at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City. She is very interested in studying immune responses, so she contributes as the main role in evaluating the levels of humoral immune and cellular immune responses in patients infected with Enterovirus A71 in Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease research at OUCRU.
